I do not know if you have seen this book. So I know I would send you a link. Has a lot of information on Norwegian immigration. Lots of names and happenings. Vik and Voll are included. Enjoy!

Korleis gjekk det i helga? Fyll og fanteri backstage med autografblokka på baklomma?

Sorry, I am not from Europe - changed it to Virginia, USA

When I googled Vik I was surprised to find your site. Skjerven is the gard my family was from. I am 4th generation. I am so proud to see this beautiful land. Recently, I was in Oslo, but did not have chance to get to Vik. That will be another trip. I can't wait to touch the soil of my ancestors. Thank you so much for publishing this website. It really helps cement my identity. This is truly a BEAUTIFUL place to live and to have come from. I am so proud!

Do you mind if I print some photos for my Family Tree scrapbook. This will not be published but given to my son and sister?

Also, I would love to use one of your photos as a reference for an oil painting of my homeland.

Respectfully, Laura Jean Albertson Fender

So det er liv i hovedstaden også? Korleis ligg det an med Kongo-gutta? Noko inside info frå kantina me kan få vite her på vikjaveven? Jagland kan vel vera ein mann å senda ned for å samtale litt..

I live in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. My father's family has Norwegian ancestry that we have traced at least to 1724, Ole Amundsen Hellen. His parents were Amund Hellen and Ingrid Iversdatter Holum. They were followed by three generations of Ole Olsen Holum, all with the same name. the third of these emigrated to America in about 1850 or so, from Vik.
Can you tell me if there are local records that list previous inhabitants of Vik, marriage records, or birth records that can be researched for ancestry? I cannot speak Norwegian, so I need to be able to communicate with a person who can speak English. Are you aware of persons other than yourself who speak English that live in Vik or work at the library?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
Your website is extremely informative and helpful, so keep up the good work!!

Det er 36,9% sikkert at Jagland ikkje blir sendt ned dit, han har jo heller dårlege erfaringar med Bongo frå Kongo.

Sharing you photos is so valuable to those of us who are trying to connect with our past. I was lucky enough to visit a few weeks ago and walked to Alrek and see Vetlesand - the farms of my great grandparents. It does mean so much to be able to "connect the dots" and begin to understand what they left behind to come to the US.
