Stadheim (gno. *Staðheimr - den framstikkande heimen) var frå gammalt av ein rik gard, med mange gravhaugar. Jon Stål, lendmann i Sogn, som er nemnd i Sverresoga, skal ha hatt tilknytning til Stadheim. Ein gravhaug på Stadheim heiter Stålhaugen, og eit uttrykk i Vik skal ha vore at nokon var ein 'Staol-Jo' viss han var strid og gjekk mot overmakti. Stadheims-gardane har vårstøl på Steimsstølen/Notesete og fjellstølar på Øyasete og Tuftahaugen.

Stadheim was a rich farm in the middle ages, with many burial mounds. Jon Stål was a man mentioned in the Sverre saga of the 11th century, who had relatives at or lived at Stadheim. A burial mound at Stadheim is still called Stålhaugen (the Stål mound), and it was a saying in Vik up to modern times that someone was a Staol-Jo if they stood up against a greater opponent. The Stadheim farms have their spring farms at Steimsstølen/Notesete and their summer farms at Øyasete and Tuftahaugen.
